Tropical Traditions Virgin Coconut Oil Book Review and Giveaway

by Allison on April 1, 2010

It’s birthday week at the Alli ‘n Son household. The kiddo is turning 2 years old (yes, the terrible twos are in full swing). To celebrate, we’re doing a week of giveaways.

A few weeks ago I talked about Tropical Traditions Virgin Coconut Oil, some of it’s health benefits, and tested it out. It was the first time I had ever heard about this oil, let alone cooked with it. I was pleasantly surprise by it. I was eager to learn more about it’s health benefits, so Tropical Traditions offered to send me a book all about Virgin Coconut Oil and it’s health benefits. That was an offer I couldn’t refuse. I love learning about new, healthy foods.

The book begins by defining coconut oil, explaining refined versus virgin, and includes a number of FAQs. But from there it talks about the specific health benefits, the research to back them up, and testimonials from people who have used the Tropical Traditions Virgin Coconut Oil.

According to this book, there are  LOT of health benefits to consuming coconut oil. Things like weight loss, help with sickness, and improving skin conditions. In fact, it has me so intrigued that I’m considering doing a 30 day challenge. Eating coconut oil on a daily basis and using it for most of my cooking and baking (butter and olive oil would be the only other fats and oils that I would use). I’d love to see first hand if I experience the same benefits talked about in the book.

One of the things I like most about this book is that they always sight sources and studies to back up their claims. And if there isn’t enough research, or more needs to be done, they tell you that too. Plus the testimonials give it a person touch. They aren’t just throwing data your way, they are telling real life stories too.
