I’m kind of on a health kick lately. There are many reasons, but I’ll spare you the details. If you want to know more, well you’re in luck! I talk about it in detail over here. Go ahead, check it out. I’ll wait.
Now, a few weeks ago I was asked to test out POM Wonderful, and I jumped at the chance. You mean, I actually get to review a new and health product. Yes please!
Now, before I go any further, here are some quick health benefits about POM Wonderful pomegranate juice. If you want to entire story, you can find it here.

On to the good stuff. The first recipe featuring POM Wonderful pomegranate juice.
Pomegranate BBQ Sauce
1/4 cup POM Wonderful Pomegranate juice
1 tablespoon brown sugar
1 tablespoon lemon juice
1-1/2 cups ketchup
3/4 cups brown sugar
1/2 cup red wine vinegar
1/2 cup water
3 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
1-1/2 tablespoons dry mustard
1 tablespoon spicy brown mustard
2 teaspoons paprika
2 teaspoons salt
black pepper to taste
2 dashes hot pepper sauce (it is a sweet sauce, I used a habanero hot sauce)
Combine the POM Wonderful Pomegranate juice, one tablespoon of brown sugar and lemon juice into a medium saucepan. Simmer over medium heat for 5 minutes.
Add the remaining 3/4 cup brown sugar, ketchup, red wine vinegar, water and Worcestershire sauce, ground mustard, spicy brown mustard, paprika, salt, pepper, and hot pepper sauce.
For added sweetness, add additional brown sugar to taste. Although this recipe is pretty sweet to begin with, you probably won’t need extra.
Simmer over medium heat for 10 minutes.
Place into refrigerator and let sit overnight to let the flavors blend.
This sweet, tangy sauce is going to have you licking the spoon. And coming back for seconds. It makes a mean Chicken BBQ pizza using my Health-Conscious Pizza Dough and is fantastic on a shredded BBQ chicken sandwich. Even the kiddo gobbled it down, by the spoonful!

Allison – this looks so weird, but so good! My hubby buys POM Wonderful (he’s our health nut) so I’ll have to try this.
Thanks!
