A couple of weeks ago, I decided it was craft day. Eli needed something to do, and well, so did I. But we’re on a pretty tight budget these days, so I have to be pretty thrifty about. What did I come up with? Homemade bowling pins.
It’s simple enough, 6 empty toilet paper rolls (that explains the collection above our toilet, for anyone who happened to stop by during the last few weeks), paper, markers and a glue stick. Have your kiddo decorate the paper with markers, crayons, feathers, whatever you happen to have around the house. Then glue the paper to the rolls and cut the paper to fit. Tada! Instant (well, almost) bowling pins. Add a tenis ball, or another small ball and your all set.
Now, in my case, I think that they kiddo is just a little too young for this type of craft. His attention span is about 30 seconds long. He made it through decorating one sheet of paper, and then was more interested in the glue sticks. So I finished decorating (and trying to keep him from gluing the rug to our hardwood floors), glued everything together and cut out the paper. And then we bowled. For a total of 3 games.
It may not have been a success for us, only because the kiddo is just a little too young at this point. But I’m pretty sure that an older toddler would have a blast with this. And we’ll keep trying, some day he’ll really enjoy it. For not, the bowling pins are in his toy “bucket” and he has fun stacking them.
Do you have a craft to share? Let me a comment below, with a link to the craft. I’m always looking for new crafts to try, especially with the cold winter months ahead.
