NO! – Product Review

I have to preface this post by saying that we purchased this CD long ago, before kids had entered our minds. Possibly even before we were even dating. So it’s been a household favorite for a number of years. It isn’t your typical, high pitched, catchy-but-annoying children’s music. It’s fun, catchy and creative. And yes, the songs can be a little annoying when they are on repeat in your head. But having In the Middle, in the Middle, in the Middle stuck in your head is by far better than Row, Row, Row Your Boat. Trust me on this one.

But this weekend we found a renewed love for it.

There we were, driving home from the b-day excitement of the weekend. We were anxious to get home, so we left in the morning, instead of waiting until the after lunch nap we usually time our driving trips around. Grocery shopping, dog walks, unpacking. The laundry list of other things that still needed to get done before the work week (which reminds me, laundry was supposed to be on that list, too). We knew we were in trouble, a not-at-all sleepy little boy stuck in his car seat for 1.5 hours. Yikes. But we braved it, and to our surprise, Eli fell asleep…for about 30 minutes.

And then it was tears. Books couldn’t fix it. Toys and rattles couldn’t fix it. Even graham crackers couldn’t fix it…and they ALWAYS fix it. We had resigned ourselves to a crying toddler for the next hour. Until I remember that I had NO! by They Might Be Giantsin the CD player. I turned it on and, I kid you not, within 5 seconds Eli had stopped crying. And then he started singing. And dancing. He was having a great time! We listened to the CD in its entirety and then half way through again until we arrived home. It was amazing. This will be my go-to CD whenever we are in the car and have a case of the Crabby Pants.

I highly recommend that you buy this CD, for yourself, for your kids or someone you know with an active kiddo. It would make a great gift. Oh, and it has an interactive CD too, so you should definitely get the CD and not just download the MP3.

My favorite song is The House At The Top of A Tree. Robot Parade is scary.

No! and Here Come the ABC’s are the gateway albums that I used to force my kids to listen to music that I wanted to hear. No! is the better album overall, but ABC’s is pretty solid, too. Lots of funny songs.

Also, my kids think it’s funny that I think Robot Parade is scary, and we have a whole dance routine to House at the Top of the Tree. Da-Doo, you must be an amazing man. =)

Would love to see video of the dance!

Yes, the dance! We must see it.

If Robot’s ever start obeying what the children say…**shudder**. Children punch people, bite and throw things when they’re mad.

I love the Here Come the ABC’s song on TV! I am going to have to get their CD and the Bare Naked Ladies kids’ album. Those both sound great!

I’ll have to look for this! Thanks for the tip. With colder weather heading our way and a 21 month old, I am trying to find some”preventative Medicine” so to speak to ward off tantrum moments! LOL

Several people have recommended this to me, and I’m sure my girls would love it! Gonna have to add it to their Christmas list. :)
